Have you ever been to Disney World?
My first visit was when I was 8 years old and my parents took our family for vacation.
The strongest memory I have is of the ride "It's A Small World" and I specifically remember my Mom telling me how some people hate that ride because they can never get the song "It's A Small World" our of their heads!!!
This past year we were blessed to be able to take our family there and I just couldn't wait to go on that same ride! I never hated the song. To me it meant great family memories and fun laughs with my Mom. Would you believe that as we rode through and I was singing all the way, "It's a Small World after all...it's a small world after all..it's a small world after all..it's a small, small world! It's a world of laughter, a world of tears..." etc. etc. that I suddenly noticed I was the only one singing!!! In fact, even the music being played for the ride was only instrumental...or maybe humming..it was hard to tell-but certainly not singing!
Could it be that so many were annoyed by the song that Disney World decided to change it???? Was it always that way and it was just my Mom singing the lyrics?
Well-you won't believe it after all that-but this post doesn't actually have anything to do with
Disney or that ride.
It's just that I am really amazed at how very BIG our world is and yet something like a silly little blog can make it feel so much smaller! I have this neat little map thing on my site and I can see
where people who stop by and check out my blog are from.
And..here I sit...reading places such as "Cairo, Egypt", "Melbourne, Australia", "Leighton Buzzard, United Kingdom", "AsunciĆ³n, Paraguay", "Mumbai, India", "Rubiera, Italy" and so many more!!
I am thinking to myself....we're really all the same....sitting in front of our computers...clicking away...checking out blogs from perfect strangers..entering contests...being encouraged by words written by someone we will likely never see...we speak different languages..wake up in different time zones...wear different styles of clothing....some drink chai-others of us lattes-still others PG Tips steeped only in a teapot! And yet...here we all are....looking for connections...in some way reaching out to each other and so in my mind I sing...
"It's a Small World after all...it's a small world after all..it's a small-small-world!"
Don't hate me for putting that song in your head! Embrace it! Sing along-and hey-if you are from one of the REALLY far from Ohio, USA places I mentioned..I would love to know your name and how you came across It's A Blessing. If you have visited more than once....what is it that appeals to you-or why is it that you come back???
Please join the fun and leave a comment with your name-where you are from and what you think somehow connects us to make our great big world just that much smaller!
