Blessed are those whose strength is in you, who have set their hearts on pilgrimage. Psalm 84:5

I FLUSHED THE BABY!

"AAAAWWW, How cute..look how motherly my little Caeleen is.
She has such a sweet tender way about her."

I thought to myself as I watched her tenderly scoop something up off the carpet and rock it and sing to it. At first glance, I thought it was a bead. Odd...to be loving on a bead. But, hey-whatever-she is still being so kind! Second glance: "What is that?-it looks like it's moving!" I think, "It must be a fly." My compassionate side takes over, "Oh, poor fly-it's not going to like her game. I should save it from her grasps- if it's not already dead." I follow her. She puts down her "little baby" and lies on her belly on the floor to watch it move and interact with it. From behind, I can not see it, but I hear her cute baby talk- sing-songy- to her little one. Then, just as I get close enough to bend over and see, she leans down to KISS HER BABY!!!

Do you want to guess what it was??? Or should I just tell you?????

IT WAS A SPIDER!!!!!!!!! A PRETTY BIG ONE AT THAT!

COMPASSION OVER!!! Dash to the bathroom! Toilet paper-quick!!! Scoop it up before any more spider smooching-and flush!!! GONE! Phew! I feel better.

Caeleen, on the other hand is crying, leaning over the toilet,
wondering why?, oh why?, did I flush her baby!!!!

When I first thought it was a bead, it must have been rolled into a ball to try to save it's own life from this giant creature! Do you know, that when I was a child, if there was a spider in my room and we couldn't find it and kill it, I would not even sleep in there!! And, here is my 2 year old: holding one, rocking it, and KISSING IT!!!! She must be wise beyond her 2 years....

"There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceedingly wise....The spider taketh hold with her hands and is in the kings palaces" Proverbs 30:24 and 28.

Yeah, now I'm a little nervous. When looking for an image-I see this-"that looks about right-hers looked like that." Then I read the caption: "Black Widow Spider" I'm sure hers couldn't have been-but..SHE WAS KISSING IT!!!

  1. The child's love for spiders is a little strange, but she hasn't reached the age where she is able to see the spider for the awful creature that it is. I think that came for Megan-Joy around 5.

  2. This story made quite an uproar when I shared it with my childrne!

I'm sorry about the man at the drive-thru. It seems that as things get tougher, those who don't have Christ and even those who do, grow shorter and shorter in their tempers and their abilities to control them.

We will definitely be stretched to show a Christ like attitude in response.

God bless you and your hubby and all your little ones.

  3. I would have squished it and put it in the trash.
